Restoration and remodeling of Howard Baskerville’s Tomb in Tabriz, Iran, as a Symbol of Friendship

In collaboration with the Constitutional Museum of Tabriz and the University of Tabriz, the Baskerville Institute will support the restoration and remodeling of Howard Baskerville’s burial ground in Tabriz, Iran.

The restoration of Howard Baskerville’s tomb is more than just a commemorative act. It is a celebration of the enduring ideals of friendship and humanity that bind us together. It is an act of grace and gratitude towards the man who gave his life for the cause he so dearly believed in. This gesture of goodwill is also a sign of friendship and collaboration between Americans and Iranians. It is a testament to the belief that despite political differences between governments, the goal of friendship and mutual respect is a shared value between Americans and Iranians.

The John Widstoe Fellowships (JWF)

The John Widstoe Fellowships Program for the Baskerville Institute will fund collaborative research projects between Iranian and American scholars on shared challenges in Utah and Iran. The fellowships are named after John Widstoe, former president of Utah State University, who envisioned the collaboration between USU and Iran that began in 1912. The fellowships are a fitting tribute to Widstoe’s vision of cooperation and understanding between Americans and Iranians. Widstoe demonstrated how friendship can be transformed into engines of prosperity, good will, and mutual understanding. The objective of the fellowships is to build on Widstoe’s legacy by providing opportunities for Iranian and American scholars to collaborate on important issues and build relationships that can help to promote peace and understanding between the two countries.
